Sutton Lake is a beautiful lake, winding 14 miles along the Elk River, with many coves along its 45 miles of shoreline. The lake attracts fishing and boating enthusiasts. Located in the wooded hills of central West Virginia, it was created as an Army Corps of Engineers project in 1960-1961. The surrounding area has remained completely undeveloped.
As a recreational escape Sutton Lake is ideal. Houseboat, speed boat and jet ski rentals are available at the marina and the lake is host to over 60 fishing tournaments a year. The lake's many coves make for easy seclusion and the stunning green forest all around makes for excellent hiking.
