Enjoy a glimpse of life below level on a tour of the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine, where the focus is all things coal mining, from tunnel to tools. Visit first the associated exhibits above ground that provide an intorduction to geology and mining history in the region and then, thus prepped, descend 1,500 feet down into an old working mine in a "man car" and back out to daylight again. Also part of this coal mining attraction are historic buildings like the Pemberton Coal Camp Church, the Helen Coal Camp School, the Coal Company House and even the one-time residence of a mine superintendent.
