Tucked into the Appalachian Mountains in Daniel Boone National Forest, the small town of Morehead is surrounded by outdoor recreation. Name your outdoor activity and odds are it's available around this Eastern Kentucky town or at nearby Cave Run Lake. Morehead State University is located here; it's said many students attend college here to enjoy fishing, rock climbing or sailing in their off-hours.

The 8,270 acre man-made Cave Run Lake is located almost entirely within the Daniel Boone National Forest, a short distance from Morehead. In addition to boating and other water sports, fishing is big here. The lake has been dubbed "Muskie Fishing Capital of the South". For those who prefer hiking and camping, Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail is a 269-mile multiple use trail running the entire length of Daniel Boone National Forest. Three area golf courses are also available including one surrounded by the forest.

Morehead is home to Kentucky Folk Arts Center, the state's only center devoted to untrained artisans. Minor E. Clark Fish Hatchery, one of the largest state-owned warm-water fish hatcheries in the country, is also located here.

Morehead is located 65 miles northeast of Lexington, KY off I-64.
